Several factors are important to determine the price of your custom embroidered patches. Please use the text and art below to help you calculate the embroidery percentage and proper measuring of your patch design.
Embroidery Types
We’re not kidding about the “custom” in custom patches. You can choose your patch size, design, colors, shape and backing type for your patches. Our talented, experienced graphic artists are happy to help you create patches that are perfect for your club, business, school, team or other organization.
With Twill
Embroidery covers more than 50%, up to 75% of the twill backing.
Full Embroidery
Embroidery completely covers the backing, leaving no twill exposed.
Patch Sizing Options
Whether you need small patches for military uniforms, large patches for biker jackets or anything in between, we can handle it! No matter what kind of patch you need, we’ve got the expertise and talent to provide it!
Calculating the size of your custom embroidered patch is easy. Just measure the width and length of your patch (in inches) and add those numbers together. Then divide the resulting number by 2 to get the size of your patch. See the following example.
If the height of your patch is 2″ and the width of your patch is 4″, you would add 2 + 4, which equals 6. You then divide 6 by 2, which equals 3, The size of your 2″ x 4″ patch would be 3".
Patch Backing Options
Standard Backing
This is simply the standard patch twill. You attach the patch to your garment by sewing it on. This is the most secure and permanent attachment style of any attachment option.

Iron-On Backing
Iron on backing is a quick, easy, permanent attachment method. Just place the patch where you want it on the garment, cover with a thin, damp towel to prevent scorching, and hold an iron over the patch for 20 to 30 seconds. What could be easier?

Velcro Backing
Velcro backed patches can be removed from a garment quickly and easily. It’s ideal if you need to interchange multiple patches, or for patches you need to remove frequently.

Adhesive Backing
Adhesive backing, sometimes called 'tape backing' is a versatile and less permanent than other backing options. It is perfect if you need a quick, easily removable backing option for an outfit or costume.

Plastic Backing
We add a rigid plastic backing to your patches. By giving the patches extra support, it enables them to maintain their shape, even after constant wear. This can be used in conjunction with iron-on backing as well as sew-on.

Patch Borders
We offer two types of patch borders, Merrowed and Hot Cut. Depending on your patch style, size, shape and degree of visual separation you want from the garment, either could be right for your needs. Our experienced staff can help you select the border style that will be perfect for your particular patch design.
Merrow® Border
Merrow® borders, named for the brand of sewing machine that creates them, produce the classic raised borders that are an industry standard. It adds a touch of elegance to clean, simple designs.

Hot Cut Border
Hot cut patches, unlike standard rounded edge patches, feature sharp, detailed edges. This option is ideal if your patches have fine details and intricate design features.

Other Patch Options
Additional Thread
All orders include up to seven thread colors, free of charge. Want to include more than seven colors? No problem! We have hundreds of thread colors to choose from, meaning your patches come out looking exactly like what you had in mind.

Metallic Thread
Great for flashy, eye-catching designs, metallic threads really help your patches stand out in a crowd. Best used sparingly, metallic threads are available in multiple colors.

Neon Thread
Neon thread adds a bold, colorful “wow” factor to your embroidered patches that regular thread can’t match. This option really makes your design stand out brilliantly. A little bit goes a long way!

3D Puff Embroidery
Want to make your design literally stand out? Go for 3D puff embroidery. This style uses a foam material underneath the stitching to raise the embroidery. It’s a style that’s especially good for larger patch designs such as hat patches.

Button Loop
Button loops are perfect for patches designed to hang from a button or lapel pin. They require no gluing or sewing. The only necessity is something to hang the patches from.
